For Each Child Who’s Born – Revisited…

Christmas morning 2022 dawned bright and cold

bringing back memories of times in the past

and then I read the news today

about a world that still has so much to learn

reminding me of my grandson

and the song his paternal grandmother

shared on the day of his birth

that I included in an old post (now revised) from five years ago

My Grandchildren – Summer 2008

Imagine what the world would be

if you honored each child born as you honor me

A gift from the force of life, the creator, to the world

a greater treasure by far than thrones impearled

The essence of hallowed life to grace the earth

released with each miraculous birth

The humblest child a wondrous sight

May your heart embrace all children as sacred this blessed night

We Are (by Dr. Ysaye M. Barnwell)

For each child that’s born a morning star rises
and sings to the universe who we are

We are our grandmother’s prayer
We are our grandfather’s dreamings
We are the breath of the ancestors
We are the spirit of God.

We are
Mothers of courage
Fathers of time
Daughters of dust
Sons of great vision

We are …
Sisters of Mercy
Brothers of Love
Lovers of Life and
The Builders of Nations

We are Seekers of Truth
Keepers of Faith
Makers of Peace and
The Wisdom of Ages

We are our grandmother’s prayer
We are our grandfather’s dreamings
We are the breath of the ancestors
We are the spirit of God
We are ONE.

Sending blessings of peace to all

  1. Thank you for sharing!!..“ The love a mother has for her children is legendary, it is said a child is the mother’s heart outside her body.” (Author Unknown)… 🙂
Hopefully with today’s technology, the people can come to a better understanding and work together to make this world a better place, not only for the grandchildren, but for everyone… 🙂

Hope you and your family have a wonderful New Year filled with peace, love, happiness and life is all that you wish for it to be and until we meet again… 🙂

May the love that you give
    Always return to you,
That family and friends are many
    And always remain true,
May your mind only know peace
    No suffering or strife,
May your heart only know love and happiness
    On your journey through life.

  2. Wonderful and thoughtful! The photos on CNN are heartbreaking. Canada has pledged to take 500,000 immigrants a year (a big number for a country of 38 million), however I don’t think many come from the Mexican US border. Perhaps that could change. It could ease the tension along the US border and help realize our goals.

Lovely photos of your family. Wishing you the best in the New Year. Take care.

    1. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments, Bob. It has been heartbreaking to see the plight of refugees and the cruelty they encounter not only here but around the world.

I would guess the governors of US/Mexico border states are unaware of Canada’s generosity. Instead, they’re busing new arrivals to cities that are already unable to house people. There’s no easy answer, but no one here is taking the lead in exploring reasonable, humane solutions, Even in my little city, there are many residents who are homeless and little is being done to explore reasonable, humane solutions.

sending my best wishes to you and your lovely family – may you all have a wonderful new year, too. 💜

  3. Thank you for this wonderful and heart touching article, Carol. Anyone who doesn’t have a heart of stone will think about it.
Carol, wishing you and your loved ones a happy new year, filled with joy, peace and blessings in abundance.

  4. These poems are so poignant and beautiful, Carol, and it makes me weep that we fail to lift up children and families and fail to keep the promises and hopes that come with each birth. You have a lovely soul and thank you for sharing and resharing this important message with the world. ❤
