Carol A. Hand
Morning gardens dappled with sunlight and shadow
*

*
a few bumble bees and butterflies feasting on flowers
as another dry June day begins – this one already hot
*

*
Last evening’s promise of rain unfulfilled
despite the dramatic sunset sky
*

*
Dark clouds quickly effacing the rising full moon
on their way east to deliver rain elsewhere
*

*
giving me an opportunity to do the best I can
to gratefully sustain life in times of adversity
*
Great poem!

I love the way your house sits back from the road in front. And I love Lilac! Your front yard is so inviting and beautiful!
Throughout my public school years, my parents and I lived in one of the GI Bill track houses that were built in the forties. And like you, Carol, my mother loved trees and flower beds, they were everywhere by the time I was in college. But there was one huge Lilac bush that sat just outside the bathroom window, which was located in the shower. And as I showered, the entire room would be filled with the smell of Lilacs.
I loved it. After they moved, nothing was ever the same.
I hope you are feeling better and stronger, Carol!

Your stories are always delightful, Dave. I love lilacs, too, and planted a number of new bushes to add to the ones that were already here. The one in the photo is a French lilac and blooms later than all of the others. When the traditional lilacs were in full bloom, a neighbor who lives in the apartment building across the street stopped by when I was outside gardening and asked if I could giver her some flowers to put in her room. She used to be able to grow her own. Who could refuse?
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing your lovely memories. ❤

I love those photos, particularly the ones of the portent of rain not delivered, sometimes our worst fears are like those clouds. Lovely post Carol.

Very fine post Carol. Lovely photos of the sky. Those kinds of sun filled clouds can only be seen around this time of year. The days here are a mix of rain and sun. Perfect for the garden. Sending you well wishes across the fire. Take care.

Morning surrounded by nature, nothing could be more glorious. Okay, not entirely true. When one lives in remote places the night sky can take your breath away…
Thank you for choosing to follow one of my blogs.
