Carol A. Hand
Normally, I avoid posting more than one article on my blog in a day. Recently, I rarely post more than once a week. But I just received the Monday Report my Congressional Representative, Rick Nolan, shares with his constituents. Below is an excerpt with crucial information that is important to share because the mainstream media may not.

Monday Report
From Minnesota’s 8th District Congressman
“A Wish List for the Rich”
House GOP Budget Targets Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid to Fuel Tax Cuts for Wealthy People and Corporations
Dear Ms. Hand,
So much for President Trump’s campaign promise not to cut Medicare and Social Security. Trump and House Republicans last week signed off on a catastrophic budget plan to slash Medicare by $500 billion over ten years and turn it over to costly the private insurance industry. Traditional benefits would be replaced with a yearly voucher check, leaving seniors on their own to find insurance they can afford. Republicans reportedly also have a plan afoot to raise the eligibility age for Social Security to 70, and impose drastic cuts to benefits for disabled workers and other especially vulnerable recipients.
Moreover, this House GOP plan doesn’t achieve one penny of deficit reduction by closing tax loopholes for super-rich people and businesses on Wall Street. Instead, Republicans hand a shameless and needless trillion dollar tax cut to millionaires, billionaires and wealthy corporations and pay for it with devastating cuts to Medicaid assistance for the elderly in nursing homes, the poor, the disabled, and for students with special needs. Small communities and hospitals would be especially hard hit. Many small hospitals would be forced to close. And community services like Meals on Wheels that help seniors live at home and avoid expensive nursing home care would find themselves in real trouble.
Instead of reinvesting in America and our people, the GOP budget plan would continue to fund endless wars of choice in the Middle East to the tune of $75 billion for “overseas contingency operations.”
And while undermining diplomacy with deep cuts to the State Department, House Republicans would provide the Pentagon with an extra $19 billion above the president’s $603 billion request.
The carnage doesn’t end there. The GOP budget plan also targets medical research, heath care for our military Veterans, public education, childhood nutrition, transportation, environmental protection and homeland security just to name a few.
To be clear, this proposal by President Trump and House Republicans is just that a proposal. In essence, it’s a wish list for the rich at the expense of working middle class families, seniors and folks in need. We can and must to better for the American people, and that will continue to be my focus here in Congress.
We will keep you posted as events proceed. Meanwhile, I want to hear your thoughts. Feel free to contact any of our offices listed below or send me an email.
Sincerely,
Rick

Hey one good egg in the pile of rotten garbage, maybe that’s not so bad these days!

Yes, Nolan is a “good egg,” and he was the target of a vigorous, vicious campaign to replace him with a GOP toady.

I just read about this in another post. If Trump does this, be assured that there will be hell to pay.
Read this, if you have the time. I will be posting it soon:

Thank you, Tori. It is heartening to know that some legislators genuinely care about people…

Reblogged this on ashiftinconsciousness and commented:
Is anyone still wondering why Noam Chomsky called the republican party the most dangerous organization in human history?
They are attempting to increase death, debilitating illnesses and homelessness among the population they say they serve and, at the same time, want to divert the nation’s resources from the working majority to the wealthy, ownership class who do not work or need the money so generously being given to them by economic terrorists.
If anyone out there believes I am engaging in sensationalism by calling wealthy sociopaths who take from people in need and give to people who have more than they could possibly know what to do with “terrorists”, give me an explanation of what terrorism is and explain how this does not fit the bill. The comment section is open and I have yet to delete or not “approve” a comment on this blog.
It is honest to say that these despicable “people” do not care about children other than those they gave birth to.
It is honest to say they care nothing about disabled people who’ve been given a difficult journey in life under the best of corcumstances (relating to social programs and their needs).
It is also honest to say that these criminals (who manipulate laws in a disingenuous way to appear to be lawful) care nothing at all about anyone other than themselves, their families and their “friends” – though I doubt people like this even understand the concept of friendship. They are nothing more than greedy prostitutes who want everything while giving nothing.
The hypocrisy of the stated intentions of these people is beyond belief. Their immorality and heartless demonization of “others” is the epitome of dehumanization.
If humanity does not get together, finally, and put an end to this savage organization, it is unlikely we will survive this century.
So, suicide and murder will be their legacy even though no one will be around to acknowledge it.

Thank you so much for sharing this post, A Shift in Consciousness, and for your powerful advocacy voice for compassionate, inclusive policies and treatment for all people. The deliberate life-threatening violence of GOP policy proposals is alarming and sadly the mainstream media wastes our time by focusing on nonsense. I’m grateful for Nolan’s integrity and courage and for those who are willing to voice their compassionate views.

Of course, I could do no less. I would rather die than lead an ignorant life indifferent to the suffering of the least fortunate in society. The behavior exhibited by wealthy executives is beyond comprehension to me.

Thanks for sharing a rational voice still left in Congress. I hope folks start supporting and voting for people like Nolan at the local levels so we can stop this insanity. What a nightmare. I don’t know how the greedy politicians proposing these cuts can sleep at night.

Thank you for your thoughtful comments, Kate. The seemingly heartless behavior of GOP Congressional members is both puzzling and deeply, deeply, deeply disturbing. Millions of people and the earth we share will be harmed by their actions for generations yet to come. It reminds me of what happened in the Stanford Prison Experiment when people were randomly assigned to be either guards or prisoners: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_LKzEqlPto. It makes me wonder what causes and cures psychopathy (http://www.encyclopedia.com/psychology/encyclopedias-almanacs-transcripts-and-maps/hare-psychopathy-checklist).

Thanks, Carol. What an interesting comparison though I think greed and apathy are the majors players in this game…both which contribute to psychopathy…

I follow all this fairly closely, Carol. The blatant lack of empathy among Republicans in Washington is stunning. Perhaps things needed to get this bad in order for Americans to wake up and make their opinions known. I sincerely hope that the party of greed and callousness is digging its political grave.

Diana, thank you for your thoughtful comments. I too hope people wake up and vote more responsibly for legislative representatives who care about others.

It is just one in a long list of flagrant lies from a man who is incapable from distinguishing fact from fiction. He will sign anything, doesn’t understand a thing, nor does he wish to, and then try to sell it to the public like it’s the greatest insurance of all time. When will the public wake up?

Thank you for your honest comments, Jim. It’s true that there are so many attempts by the president, legislators, and media to spread disinformation. That’s what makes me so grateful for people of integrity and courage like Nolan who continue to do what they can anyway, and for all my WordPress friends who share beauty, hope, and truth. Sending you my best wishes. ❤

Thanks for sharing Carol … it’s more or less what’s happening in the UK, with a corrupt government privatising health care (the NHS) and lining their own pockets (Most of the ruling elite we call ‘our’ government have personal financial interests in the private health care field ) but the blind British public STILL keep voting them into power. I am so disillusioned with what’s happening and the enmity this lot are creating…..

This is so interesting and thought provoking. Medicare, and health insurance in general, can be tricky. Funnily enough, I just wrote up something similar about health insurance, and whether the cost should depend on one’s health status (whether sicker people should have higher premiums). Food for thought!

Thank you for your thoughtful comments, Dawn. Differing worldviews have a profound impact on how people perceive freedom and responsibility. In some cultures or nations, individualism is valued more than a beneficent sense of collective responsibility for each other. Sadly, my views don’t match those of people in power at the moment in the U.S. where I live.
