Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comments, Chris. These are difficult times, and it’s not easy to find reasons to keep hope alive. Yet amid the darkness, the beauty of nature and kindness still remind me that as long as there’s life, there’s hope. There are small things we can each do to breathe kindness and light into being. Your lovely comments have done that for me ❤

Hi Carol, it’s funny how those stars and planets keep shining and wandering the sky regardless. Some people say it makes them feel small, but it always makes me feel lucky. Wonderful poem. Bob

Bob, I always feel lucky when you share photos of the incredibly beautiful night sky where you live. Small – well we are in comparison to the vast unknown universe. Those who witness the wonder and beauty of the stars and planets are lucky, and those who share their luck through photos and stories are a gift to others.
It’s hard to see many stars where I live. There are so many lights on all night on my side of town – street lights and the brightly-lit school grounds and elders’ apartment building. Bright Venus in the southwest evening sky during January has been a welcome visible exception and companion, especially when she traveled with the crescent moon.

Thank you for your kind words Carol. I am delighted you enjoy the pictures of the night sky. We are very lucky where we live to have dark skies. I do understand how man made light can wash out the stars. I have taken many people from the city into the mountains at night and they are always amazed at the stars. One person even commented to me, if everybody could see the stars like this the world would be a different place. I didn’t disagree. Venus is absolutely brilliant now. Below is a link to a few pics when Venus was a morning star and it came up with a crescent moon right behind it. It was a spectacular rising and one I will never forget. Take care and keep your eye on Venus.
