Carol A. Hand
My task for now is simply to write
I lose track of time
Is it day or night?
When I look out my window
It’s sometimes hard to know
These past few days
I only see snow

This morning a song played in my mind
Causing me to stop and reflect
I’ve learned to love living in the city
It’s not something I’d ever expect
As I sit on my side porch step
It depends on where I gaze
Traffic lights, clouds, or starry skies
I love these snowy city nights and days

I so love Joni, I was singing California this morning while out walking my dog. I wonder how she is doing……

How Can I Keep From Singing? by Pete Seeger is a favourite . Singing is what holds it together for me. Keep on singing!

It’s always good to hear from you, Bob. I love Seeger, too. Funny how my taste in music dates me – as an aging Hippie 🙂

Lovely poem Carol! I totally identify with your sentiments about getting used to living in the city. It took me a long time, actually. I also enjoyed Joni’s song. Losing track of time while writing is probably a good sign you’re doing what you’re supposed to. 🙂 Continued best wishes! 🙂

Thank you, Hildegard ❤ Late at night, the traffic stops and it's sometimes so quiet. I prefer it to the howls of coyotes, although I miss the song of loons …

Such a wonderful song… I think that canadian singer also composed ´Both sides now´… Correct me if I am wrong… I love that song as well.

Carol, thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m slowly trying to let my blog friends that I had to let my healing blog/mandy go. Sometimes a completely new start is needed. It’s good to start up again.
This was a beautiful image–snow, the first day of spring! I love how content you sound, sitting on your steps. Feeling good where you live–even if it wasn’t where you thought you’d end up–is really wonderful. I love Joni, too. Thank you for sharing this special post.

I love your new blog, Scout 🙂 This poem reminds me of your first post – learning to accept where we are and find beauty in ourselves and simple moments.
Your decision to start yet a new chapter is exciting and I look forward to seeing where this new journey leads, my dear friend. I send hugs and love ❤
